Choreographer Balbir Singh (Diversity Dance Company) is offering professional dancers a unique opportunity to participate in a week long, creative residency at the Yorkshire Dance Centre, Leeds. During the week dancers will work with live music and undertake 1 to 1 Kathak training with Balbir Singh himself.
Diversity Dance has become one of the newly appointed RFO organisations with Arts Council England this year and as a result the company is starting the process of looking for suitable dancers who may join this exciting middle scale dance company from summer 2009 and then for UK touring during Autumn 2009.
The week will include, daily contemporary or Ballet class, daily Kathak class, creative movement exploration, traditional Indian musical training and you will also get to learn some of the company’s rep from 2007.
There will be a further residency in London in March 2009 at Sadlers Wells.
Dancers wishing to apply to take part in the residency will need to have had at least 3yrs professional training in contemporary dance.
No previous Kathak experience is necessary but Kathak experience based artists are welcome to apply
The residency will take place from Monday 20th October to Friday 27th October from 10:00am – 6:00pm each day. Please do not apply unless you can commit to the whole week.
Dancers will be paid £300 for the week plus £60 per diems
Relevant expenses for travel and accommodation to Leeds may be paid for by the company
